It is actually easy to backup your Mac over a VPN to a remote server.
In this post:
- Our ‘remote server’ is a Mac Mini Server, with Time Machine and VPN enabled.
- Our client is a Mac Laptop.
- We are using this to keep the VPN running all the time, on the client.
Step 1:
Make sure the VPN connection is active.
Step 2:
Using AFP: Connect to the server/time machine, with the credidentials you want to use for Time Machine. Select the time machine folder from the pop up box.
Step 3:
In your Time Machine System Preferences, you will see the drive from step 2 when you add a new drive to time machine. Select it, and sit back and wait.
